My fine art practice has evolved around materials and techniques with a long history, primarily paper, textiles, string making and weaving. I enjoy the dialogue with materials, focusing on the process of making as a collaboration with matter, hands and body responding to the work in progress.

I am as interested in the creativity of the act of making as in the final outcome. A piece of work is never finished, the opportunity for transformation is always present. For this exhibition I have explored the magic of turning flat prints into 3D elements and constructing assemblages, juxtaposing hard and soft materials, the ephemeral and the enduring.  I often revisit, revise, dismantle work and incorporate some of the elements and materials into new work.

Working in series and with repetition allows for small variations and adjustments, one iteration emerging from the previous one. The gradual, incremental transformation becomes part of the narrative, the story of the network that binds us together through time and space. I look for moments of contentment, noticing flashes of enchantment while seeking to reach an accommodation with the world around us.
